On your left, you will see a publicity photo from Endgame. This
was the first mainstage production I ever got to direct.
I'm going to say this happened in late 1989, just for the sake of argument.
I was given a budget
of $75 but spent about $250. Take that as an early indication.
In this picture shows Ben Kimmel as Clove and Eric Singdalhsen as Hamm.
An observant person will recognize their names from the cast list.
Someday I
hope to write more about Endgame, but for now I will just say:
This is where it all began for me. And if you know the play and
see my work, you will see I am completely trapped by it. Errr, that is
to say, it is my biggest influence.
On the right is a publicity photo from a one-act that Vickie was
in. It was called The White Liars and ran the same night
as Endgame. The director, John Platt,
had a much better eye for photography then me at the time. I guess
we all have to take it one step at a time.
